Welcome to the Seattle Infinity Math Circle!
Our Goals:
  • to make math fun, exciting, and awesome
  • to raise student involvement and interest in math
  • to raise students' problem-solving abilities 
August 26 & 27
Joy Zheng will host two AMC classes. The first day (8/26) will focus on AMC 10/12-level materials, while the second day (8/27) will focus on AIME to easy USAMO level questions. 
Date: Wednesday (8/26) and Thursday (8/27)
Time: 3-5 PM
 
August 23
Albert Chu will host a Mathcounts Countdown class. The goal of this 2-hour session is to improve performance in Mathcounts countdown. Albert is the state champion in Washington State Mathcounts competition this year, where he entered the countdown round as 10th place and moved up to 1st pace after 9 rounds of highly competitive duels (with 30+ questions). In the class, Albert will discuss the skills he used in Mathcounts countdown, including smart calculation, pattern recognition, and tips to buzz.

Time: 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Location: Conference Room, Redmond Regional Library

Congratulations to everyone at MathCounts state! As with last year, SIMC gave out the following prizes to top finishers (rank after countdown):
$50 to first place--Albert Chu
$20 to second place--Darryl Wu
$20 to third place--Kathleen Zhou
$20 to fourth place--John Zhang
$50 to first place coach--Lon-Chan Chu
In addition, Kevin Yang, Winston Wright, and Emily Zhang from SIMC all placed in the top ten.

SIMC is now announcing our own Problem of the Week column! A new problem will be posted each Saturday, with the difficultly ranging from MathCounts to the AIME. Check it out here!
 
News!
Great prep classes for MATHCOUNTS, AMC and AIME are finally available in the Seattle area. The famed lead instructor, Dr. Zuming Feng, is the team leader and coach of US IMO. The class setup is to have four student groups to focus on different competitions: AMC 10, MATHCOUNTS, AMC 12, and AIME. The classes are offered by IDEA MATH.

Zachary Abel will give another lecture at Microsoft Building 117 from 1:30 to 3:30.  The lecture will be on certain facets of geometry, including cyclic quadrilaterals, simson lines, and nine-point circles.
